A key member of the coaching staff both on the training pitch and behind the scenes, Boro joined Arsenal a few months after Arsène Wenger took the helm.

Born in Mostar, now part of Bosnia, Boro was a top-class centre-back in his playing days - operating at a high level in both Yugoslavia and France, winning 14 caps for his country and starring for a side that finished fourth in the 1980 Olympic Games.

He went into management with both Cannes and Valenciennes, during which time he first met Arsène. Subsequently he joined the Frenchman in Japan and north London. Boro’s shrewd eye and comprehensive technical understanding of the game are widely respected within the sport and have earned him Arsène’s deep trust.

Boro tends to stay out of the limelight, but can be found at first-team, Reserve and Academy matches alike – providing an important and hugely positive influence on the Gunners’ players and staff.
