Former Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Gerry Peyton is now in his ninth season at the Club - and the Gunners’ production line of shot-stoppers looks to be in good health.
Last season, young Pole Wojciech Szczesny worked closely with Gerry en route to becoming the team’s No 1.
Gerry nurtures a supportive, competitive environment among the squad’s pool of goalkeepers and this has assisted in some remarkable achievements during his time at Arsenal – a record ten consecutive Champions League clean sheets in 2005/06 being among them.
Much like Arsène Wenger and Boro Primorac, Gerry spent time coaching in Japan earlier in his career after making his name as a player with a number of famous clubs. He racked up over 600 appearances before retiring and won 33 caps for Ireland, travelling to the 1990 World Cup with Jack Charlton’s side.
